Visiting other next-stage companies before you start?
Category: Starting the Journey
As they consider a leap in their management system, a lot of companies want to visit organizations that are further ahead on the journey.
That sounds reasonable, but experience seems to indicate that it's not a good idea. When people reach out to me to ask: who should we visit, I generally say "I'm sorry, I'm not sure it's a good idea that I help you with this."
In the video, I share what brought me to this understanding and I suggest what you could do instead. And why, when you are a year or more into the journey, the story changes and there might be now be very fruitful to visit other companies for inspiration.
My hope is for the comments below the video to surface our collective wisdom on the topic. This could enrich the videos tremendously.
Have you experienced something similar in your own journey? What did you do about it? If you have something meaty to share, please add a link to an article, a video ... Feel free to agree or disagree with what I say, but always: please keep it on topic, relevant, practical. And of course, let's keep things respectful and kind.
