Giving and Receiving
I'm more and more drawn to the gift economy. When we pay for everything we exchange, we end up in a cold, transactional world, where our stories, our capacity to participate, our longing to contribute are all erased.
What if we see life and work as a gift, and not just a way to "make a living"? What if we truly acknowledge that we need to receive in order to give, and to give in order to receive? This video series lives in the gift economy. The videos are not "free." I share them with you with the invitation to enter the flow of giving and receiving, and to gift back what feels right to you. What are you receiving from these videos? What are you meant to give? Will you enter this dance with me? |
OrganizationsWhat value do you receive from the videos? It's not an easy question!
Perhaps not very much. Or perhaps the value is considerable, if the videos help you create a future you longed for - or avoid mistakes that would have been costly. In the end, I don't believe you can approach this from a rational perspective only. I invite you to put aside any preconceived notion and see what amount "feels right." Do you feel generous in a way that feels good - not too much, not too little? Does it honor who you are and honor me and my work at the same time? By the way, aren't these beautiful questions? |
Coaches, consultants, facilitatorsOne way you can think about these videos is like a pretty content-rich training course. I didn't put these videos in a MOOC format, but you can binge-watch them, take notes, contrast them with your own thoughts and intuitions ... and integrate them as much as you want into your understanding and into your work with the organizations you're involved with.
What is this worth to you? Are you in a position to help me continue giving? What would make you feel generous in a way that feels good - not too much, not too little? That's the sweet spot! I like to imagine a day when all our interactions will leave us feeling good in such a way. |
